Piston Markings

Anyone seen these markings on a piston before or can decipher them?

Yes, I have. I can't immediately think what they're off but I've certainly seen one very similar... I think I may have one with similar markings in one of my trays of NOS pistons in my loft (what am I like??!!!!!). Probably best I don't go banging around in the lost, above my sleeping kid's bedrooms, but I'm tempted (LOL).

If nobody else comes back with confirmation then I'm happy to go hunting around tomorrow evening.

Cheers Adam. No rush, It belongs to a mate of mine, suspected Vijay Super, but not sure if OEM, and I've never seen one with that much 'chatter ' on the top.

Funnily enough I immediately seemed to think that it may be a match for an older NOS piston that I have. WILL check tonight.

The marking at the top, which has 2 little strips of text either side of what looks like an upper case 'E' (E being in a different orientation... in photo reads like a W) is found on a number of Mahle pistons that I have.

Yup.

I'm starting to wonder if the one that I have that has the same range of markings went into a motor that I'm currently running, hence why I didn't find it when I looked earlier? If I do come across it at some stage then I'll post pics so that it can be 'put to bed'.

I can confirm though that that mark at the top in your photo is the same as found on my other Mahle pistons. Generally, the Mahle pistons are very good and much better than some other more expensive options. If not for shim failure, I imagine that this one would have given pretty good service.
