Copper earth rope

Postby mr mugello » Sun Mar 12, 2017 3:54 pm

Which way round is the correct way to connect frame to engine ? Mine is the 3 point type. One half has a thinner copper rope with open spade terminal. Thanks

Not needed on an electronic stator but the middle one onto the bolt behind your round junction block, then down to the flywheel cowl then see if the other end will go up to whatever bracket you have mounted your regulator on
I normally say you can't have enough earths but don't use thar one at all

I also put one on the kickstart side rear footboard support strut to one of the chaincase studs. Make sure you scrape the paint off the strut first though.

3 point earth braides.
I bolt the middle earth point to the back of the junction box on the rear strut leg ( carb side ) making sure this is a very good earth by cleaning the paint and rust off the metal under the contact point. I also earth the Regulator at this point
I then make a common earthing point where the CDI bolts to the frame to the rear of the top rear shocker mount. the thinest end of the braid is earthed here, I also earth the CDI to this point as well as the rear light unit.
The final braid terminal is then earthed to the mag housing / flywheel cowl.

Done in this way all the earth's at the rear of the scooter ( including the engine ) are linked together by the braid therefore giving common earth's.
