LI 150 Special Lights problem (new thread)

Postby harps2 » Tue Apr 04, 2017 9:21 pm

Just finishing rebuild and have problem with lighting, basically :-

All lights will work, headlamp & h/l beam, speedo, festoon, horn and brake light until I plug in the black wire from rear light loom to headlamp junction box, then rear light works (and stop light) but festoon goes out and headlamp almost goes out.

Question - why is power being diverted to rear lamp from headlamp?

Scooter is 6v points 6 pole stator std set up - starts first kick (for information only)

Any ideas, suggestion, things to test etc etc all welcome and thanks in advance for your support!

Alan

I am so sorry. I made the classic mistake of not reading everything and wrongly assumed you were electronic 12 volts.

After further investigation I am convinced that the flywheel is not generating enough power to allow all lights/horn/brake light to function at their best - I don't however know how to fix this - is it part of the stator I need to change or remagnetise flywheel ??

Any ideas out there? ---- its all gone very quiet

hi would suggest 2 options, one change to 12v electronic and replace everything, that would be my choice, or as you suggested get your flywheel remagnetised, also check your wire that goes to the rear for any shorts, use a multimeter and check, you might be able to reduce the load on your system if you can find some lower wattage 6v bulbs, mainly the headlamp bulb.

It's me, the 'Red Herring' here again! LOL! ;)

Flywheel re-magnetising will cost & fix you cheaply, quickly & easily, if it is that.....

Whereabouts are you in the World?

Swapping flywheels for a compatible one would verify the problem.

There must be loads available from Forum members because most seem to have changed in the search for reliability. Gulp!

It might be Mr Warkton Tornado No 1 that I am the Red Herring !
I wish I lived next door so I could take some bits and fix it.
Electronic kit from Ebay about £89 all in. I have used them on jobs I have done with no problem. If you go this way make sure you buy a new flywheel nut.

What happens if you remove the festoon pilot bulb? If all other lights then work ok leave it out as it's not an MOT requirement
