I am rebuilding the top end. what can I clean the mag housing and cylinder head with before putting back?

I used a dishwasher but that led to all sorts of domestic issues.


I now use brake cleaner.

Yeah, it tried the dishwasher, but I didn't find it very effective. At least my missus never found out.

Try Tool Station. They do brake cleaner in an aerosol can for £2.45. I always buy three when I am in there.

Oven cleaner and a suede brush for the alloy
If it's the outside of the cylinder head (between the fins) you can use sand paper, a clean rough surface aids heat transfer.

Try brick cleaner £10 a gallon at B & Q. Very strong.

The dishwasher may clean it but it leaves them grey and dull
