scoot rs rims

Evening all. I have been given today a pair of scoot rs steel tubeless rims with as new continental tyres on. I haven't seen or heard anything about these rims and wanted to know if anyone has had experience good or bad. Thanks .

Rubbish. Bin them unless you're only riding is bimbling around town.
SIP is the way to go.
My scoot rs rims are a flower pot holder in the garden. Only thing they're fit for if you ask me.

I used them for a few years prior to the SIP rims being released. Did many 1000s of miles with no problems.
They are very difficult to get tyres on and off without damage.
Just to check, you said steel? I would definitely not use the stainless version of those style rims.also check the valves rubber seats are good.

10,000 + miles at speed without complaint.
Sit on the hub properly; keep original studs and they stay inflated.

Ditto but read up on various threads about different versions, why to never chance the first non-bead version (too many failures), bolt-in valve options, etc.

10s of thousands of reliable miles on mine too.

There were several issues with the later rubber valves breaking which lead to RS supplying them without valves which wasn't very helpful. Earlier ones had a bolt in valve, via 8mm hole, later had an 11mm hole, probably more industry standard. I don't recall any issues with the earlier bolt in valves and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it comes to mind". Bridport valves can be fitted to the 11mm holes but requires a bit of "fettling" to the rim to get them to fit.

Biggest problem with them is that they're a barsteward to fit tyres onto and an even bigger one to remove them. In case of worn tyres it's better to cut the old one off rather than damage the rim further trying to get them off.

The tyre technician I use has fitted hundreds of tyres to SIP rims but won't touch the scootRS ones, at least that's what I understood when he said "don't bring me any more of those f**king steel rims."
