Removed from an engine that was running and riding perfectly in a scooter I recently acquired. The amount of "shavings" around the magnets on the flywheel was unbelievable. The pickup was almost worn through. It makes no logical sense that this stator ( held on by big washers as all the tabs were broken) runs and you can have a perfect out of the box example that won't even spark after 100 miles.

They don't make them like they used to , no money in longevity .
