Headlight and MOT question

Postby NorthernJordan » Thu Jun 15, 2017 7:18 pm

My mot is due and I seem to remember the tester making a comment on how I had wired up my headlight.
I have a jockeys headlight, so there's a small bulb (side light?) and high and low beam. I have a serveta and the switch has the facility for on/off and high/low. Mine is wired up so when on the side light is on at all instances.

What is the correct way of wiring it up? As at the end of the day I have two switch positions not threee.

If he's worried about it just take the bulb out.

Sidelight isn't a requirement for an MOT.

Should be fine mine was. Every Mot tester seems to be different in my experience some are more lenient than others.

He wasn't that worried, just made a comment and as I've got to rewire it all after the euro I thought I'd ask.
What would the typical way to wire it? As like I say I've always just had the side light on permanently.

Don't know what's not to like. The side light is surly not required once the headlight is on, normal Italians have ignition on on the 1st click 2nd click tail and sidelight, 3rd click headlight, and the sidelight goes off with dip and full beam off the bar switch. I have mine wired so all my lights come on at 2 and 3 as I use this to isolate the battery digital speedo etc on my Wassel set up. I also have a high intensity Cree Blue led in the jocky headlight. I normally swap it for a white one for the MOT But forgot last week and his only comment was I had a bit of play on the headstock....

i fitted the jockey's headlight to my S3 and didn't wire the sidelight up.

although it passed the MoT the examiner moaned that the bulb if fitted should work. i took the bulb out.
