Decarbonising exhaust

I have had some time to clean up some running parts after seizing my engine last week end, but that is another story.
Anyone got a tip that works to clean out the exhaust,JL 3 in my case other than the usual chestnut of caustic soda which I find never really works.

are you sure it needs it I've found with modern oils there is very little carbon build up on my JL3 and thats after over 8 years of use the only thing I do is replace the tail can packing and wire brush the peferated tube every now and then

Not sure if it needs it,it just feels heavy for what is really a thin metal structure.
But I take your point.

The old traditional way to de-carbonise an exhaust was with a propane torch.
A better way would be to bake in an oven at 500c for a couple of hours. Good luck finding one of those!
