Legshield repairs

Postby Danbretta » Wed Jul 26, 2017 9:41 pm

Hi All,
I have a recent import S3. It's had a minor knock to the bottom front right corner (where the legshield beading ends). So I have a couple of questions should anyone know....
1, Any cheap repro legshields available that I could cut the section out of and weld onto the original ones?
2, a decent fabricator anyone can recommend?

The legshields are too good to scrap just for this small damage.

Would be handy if these bottom sections were available as repair sections as my series 2 legshields have a little rust on the edges where the water must get in at the bottom of the legshield beading.

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

Sean at Scooterotica did a good job on my mates panels.....probably worth putting on here where you're based as local is always a better option.

Thanks, that's a bit of a trek for me. Managed to find them online, they look like a decent firm.

Dan,

Is there someone in your area who paints scooters? THAT person will know someone to knock the legshields into shape, if, indeed, they can't do it for you. I am sure you will find someone more local than Yorkshire.

In much experience, a lot of the practical side of scootering is about the network of people you build around you, such as welders, painters, panel beaters, automotive electricians (a bit posh, innit?) and mechanics. Some have become great friends and understand the meaning of cash.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice,
I'm new to the scene so I've not built up a network yet, hopefully this will start and grow very soon as I have a series 2 build set up already after this one. There's a local club near me, probably best to catch up with them and get in touch with some contacts through them..

Cheers
Dan.

Hi Dan,
I'm based in Watford if your local? I have the details of a good sprayer who may be able to help.

Hi Martin.
Anywhere Hertfordshire, Essex borders or willing to travel further if the quality of craftmanship is worth it. I'm half tempted to tackle it myself.

Is your contact for spraying in Watford?

Thanks
Dan.

Yes he is. Did a great Job on my S2. Well priced as well. Only down side was the time taken, it was a bit slow but then I was in no rush either.
