Have a JL3 on my series 1. The rear runners needed trimming to fit which is fair enough but the side panel fouls on the rubber bobbin of the (SLJ I think) end can support, is there a work-around short of extending the kickstart cut away? I'd really prefer not to hack at the panel unless I absolutely have to.

Bugger!
Is it a completely different shape of exhaust or can I just change the fittings?
Looks like the curry-burner will be getting an expansion chamber

I think the exhausts are the same, its just the bracket that's different. Not sure if you can buy the bracket on its own however!

I had similar problems and sold the jl3 and bought a curly. Had to trim a bit of the floorboard on the bracket side but found it rubbed on the other side where the footboard drops down to clear the flywheel. It vibrated like a Bugger and ended up panel bashing a power bulge into the footboard so I had a 1/4 inch gap between the pipe. This was on one of the muggy kits that they say had the exhaust port in a different position.its now spot on with the only drawback being that the exhaust exits at your feet when they are down. The engine gets a bit dirty but most ask what pipe I have coz it's hidden.

Ended up screwing the bobbin into the lower threaded hole of the SLJ mount and cutting up an old bgm clubman swan neck to make up the difference, the holes lined up perfectly on that and it clears the panel now.
