RB20 touring build

Postby Scooterdude » Sun Oct 01, 2017 8:00 pm

Thinking about a winter project and in particular using an RB20 cylinder I have which needs repairing coupled with a long stroke crank and possibly a kdx or RD 400 piston and running through a clubman pipe. Anyone attempted anything like this? And how did it work out?

Rb 20's are a lot more tractable than are given credit for, I'd stay away from longer strokes unless you modify the port timings to suit, choose the right pipe it will make a lot of difference to the power delivery, Very reliable kits, just look at the LCGB Production class were in two years there has only been one cylinder failure which was down to lean jetting- Good Luck

My RB20 is mildly tuned and was only built for sprinting but when I had to attend a funeral it was the only scooter I had road legal so I had to use it. I was dreading having to follow a hearse at snail pace but on the day it was no problem at all, it behaved perfectly well at low speeds and quite surprised me. I made up for it on the way home though.
