Pacemaker box combo

Postby steveg » Wed Oct 11, 2017 5:02 pm

I have a Pacemaker gear set with the early hollow cluster and the later 3rd gear cog.
Can these be used together? I'm guessing not.

I use a hollow cluster in a Rapido 245 which pulls 19 x 46 (same as TV200, so quite grunty) with a third with the stronger teeth (33.8 mm across five teeth)

I have used both, and had a late cluster centre drilled to take a pressure plate with the central locating pin. Always the strong 3rd and typically run 18x47 for 4.8 final drive.

Bl**dy Hell, when I tried to get clusters drilled & reamed @ the machine shop where I worked, they said their tooling wouldn't touch the hard material! Or were they just trying to get out of doing a bit of 'Guvvo' for me (standard cost: one cup of dispensing machine coffee)

I agree with you as the hollow centre type was the best configuration Innocenti ever did.

(As clutches have improved & the trend for higher gear ratios continues, I predict that the TV200 'box is going to make a comeback as a change to the LI150 which has been prized of late....)

The guy who centre drilled the cluster was an old school engineer who spend most of his time machining and balancing parts for classic TT bike engines. Was a sad day for scooterists in Swindon when he retired.
