LI series 1 horncast advice please

Postby andrewgc » Sun Oct 15, 2017 12:15 pm

Guys
About 12 months ago i bought a series 1 framebreather horncast off fleabay in readiness for my long term project. Now that i am getting close to being ready to fit it i dont actually think it is from a a series 1 as the lower section only sticks out by some 5 inches and does not look bulbous enough. it is stamped innocenti on the rear and does have an indelible series number .
Can any of you help please by measuring a known series 1 horncast. i would upload pics but it keeps on telling me the file is too big

Im sure it hasn't but I have to ask, is the horn on the outside just below the headlight on your one? You didn't get done by buying an LD one did you?

The rear profile doesn't look correct to me. Should be more angled at the base, has it been modified in any way?

It's not been modified to fit on series 3 legshields has it? Just a thought as the profile looks closer to a series 3 horncast...

Possibly so who knows?

One things for sure if the reproduction one that digger has posted a picture of above is an accurate copy of a series 1 framebreather horncast then mine don't look like that

Andrew, as above. The bottom edge just doesn't look right. I will measure mine today for you.

The outer circumference on mine measures roughly 445 mm give or take a few mm are the 2 inner tapped holes still there that fasten it to the mudguard or have they been removed can't tell from photo hope this helps 445 mm is around the base where it fastens to mudguard
