you may notice that i have taken off the legshields, i was going to do a repair to them but have decided to use a fiberglass pair that i have thats got a built in toolbox and im going to put the radiator in the toolbox and cut some holes in the front, will add some pics when i have made some more progress.

When I built my LC 225 back in the day, I used GRP legshields with a Yamaha 350 radiator mounted behind, and low. All the fresh air was ducted through the front mudguard and into the rad, that sat in a special legshield toolbox. There was a baffle built into the toolbox so that air HAD to pass through the radiator, and then there were holes in the floor that allowed the hot air to pass discretely from the tool box.

The result of all this was that I had no visible holes for the air. None on the front of the scooter, and none on the back of the tool box.

I still have the mould for the radiator cover if this tickles your fancy.

ive made a bracket for the battery tray and ive converted my bgm stator from ac to dc and fitted it to my engine and flywheel fitted, external pick up fitted and connected my coil, and ive got a spark, happy days.

i have started to paint the legshields on the inside, while i was at it ive also painted the left runner board as it had a few rust issues, the front mudguard has the same problem so i am sorting that out as well, its slowly turning into a restoration, i was supposed to be just fitting an engine, heres a couple of pics

ha ha, i feel just the same, im still waiting on my water pump arriving so i might as well get things done correctly rather than rushing it, i will get my cables done today, maybe some more paint as well.

did a leakdown test today and found 3 leaks, base gasket, inlet manifold and casing, all fixed now, ive also finished the painting, its not brilliant but its meant to be ridden so it will be fine, also couldnt get the plug cap on the plug it was too close to the frame tube so ive sourced a shorter plug and rubber cap, fits now but will be a bitch to change the plug as the exhaust will cover it from underneath.

yes , it will keep them warm on a cold day, temp gauge is going in the radiator filler which will go in the hole in the top of the glovebox, ive finished painting, did legshields, front mudguard and both rear runners, ive fitted rear hub and wheel plus flywheel cowling and exhaust, im halfway through fitting runners and mudguard to legshields

rh runner board fitted and all the floor channels, not my favourite task, but fitted reasonably well considering the legshields are fibreglass, i had to trim the inside of the legshield rubbers with a knife to get them to go over the edge but turned out pretty good.

then moved onto the waterpump, i needed to mount it in such a way it would move with the engine, so i used a bit of tube to make a clamp which has a pinch bolt on top and it fits over the engine mounting and has a leg welded to it than the rubber mounted pump fastens too, done some plumbing today, its very tight

also got the filler to fit into the hole in the glovebox, will need to find somewhere to put a small expansion tank, and to source a small one, got a cap for the filler with a built in temp gauge
