I have a lince ish....which I have been building for a while now ...I am having trouble with the indicators....got a couple of 3 pin relays (non led... I presume ..if they were supplied correctly) as the originals were gubbed and about the size of a half brick....managed to repair the original switch using bits out of a switch I got from scooter restorations....fitted new non standard indicator lamps from sip and wired in a couple of tel tales warning lamps connected to the front lamps..
what is happening is ...if I put on the n/s indicator the rear one lights up and does not flash and the front one is very dim until I rev it then it starts to flash as it should but rear staying on.... on the o/s it does the opposite as in rear flashes if you rev it and front stays on....
what am I missing ?
any help is appreciated thanks you

Sounds like the load required to make it flash is not being met. I would go for a LED type as they are not the old fashioned Bi metal type, the metal has to get hot with the load to turn off when it cools it connects again. All very 1950 and rely on the load the bulb puts on it. You will often see resistor kits to simulate the load when you swap to LED. Not what we want on a Lambretta with limited output. Save your money and get a digital LED Flasher. They have a fixed rate of flash and mine works on both lamps and LEDs up to something like 21W

Hi Smithy,
I have indicators on both scoots using mechanical bimetal type WRE06 relays with no problems .I would by-pass the switch by connecting the common of the switch to either the right hand circuit or lefthand circuit .If it works ok it will be the switch. The mechanical relays need a load as MK monty says and wont work with LEDs the conventional bulbs are 23watt I think. You say a "couple of relays" which I don't quite understand.

thanks for the replies guys..is this what you are saying.... change to a led type flasher relay with lower wattage or change to higher watt bulbs as the ones fitted are 10 watt...the relays I have fitted are the WREO6 type ....and when I say a couple of relays its because two are fitted...the originals were guilera .....I fitted the undamaged one and tried it on both sides and the results were the same , except that one flashed at idle without needing to lift the revs
also forgot to mention before I have no battery...
cheers!

Grandpa has more experience of these flashers but
Im not sure why you have to use 2.
Whith a simple 2 pin one you can use your supply in and the output goes to the switch pointed at one side or the other. Basically your supply is on off. As Grandpa says disconnect the flasher and see if the switch turns on both lights on one side. You mentioned idiot lights? are these leds or filament lamps. The reason I use electronic units is that the flash rate does not change with the wattage and they will work on anything
This is the last one I used 12V .05 amp to 10 amp

thanks for the link.
the reason I am using two relays as its a1990 non battery Spanish lince and it has two three pin relays fitted as standard with three wires going to each relay...checked switch and all good also idiot lights are filament lamps 1.2 watt bulbs I think
I want to keep the lamps I have fitted as holes cut in panels and legshields to suit and all painted...only indicators holding it back now... more or less
thanks for all the help cheers!

Hi smithy,
I dont think 10 watt bulb would work with the WRE06. it maybe worth trying a conventional indicator bulb but as you have no battery the low wattage /electronic route suggested by MK monty may be your solution especially as there are few spare watts in a Lambretta. I have wassell dc and 5amp hour battery on both scoots
