Telling GP200 and TV200 barrels apart

Postby Nic » Sat Feb 03, 2018 5:20 pm

Hi guys. I'm trying to arrange a swap between a TV and a GP 200 barrel (my TV one for a GP one). Is there a way of telling them apart? I have the TV200 cylinder, I think. That is to say, it was advertised as such many years ago by someone who is reasonably well-known in Lambretta circles. I had no reason to doubt him but I wouldn't want to mislead the other chap, who has the GP200 cylinder and wants my TV200 one.

Any advice welcome!

Measuring the exhaust port width would probably be a good start, early TV200's had a VERY wide port, later ones were less wide bu I think still wider than other 200's. Check Sticky's book

The obvious difference would be the notch in the top fin.

As mentioned above, original Innocenti factory SX & GP barrels will both have notches in the top fin, 180 degrees opposite on either side. The TV200 barrel will not have notches in the top fin.

Watch out though because there are a multitude of different factory and aftermarket differences. If we're talking Innocenti, all the SIII factory barrels will have a number stub coming off the side of the inlet manifold area. If it doesn't have a number stub (don't worry about what the number is though) then it is likely not to have been the one it left the Innocenti factory with.
