Early Taffspeed/JL3 bad fitting

Lads
I have an Early Taffy/JL3 pipe the one with the
Type with 2 rubber mounts at swan neck part !
It fits like shit to a TS225 topend on SIL casings
Anyone had any issues or can give me some pointers to getting this to fit?

I never got the swan neck bracket with this so using a JL one I already have!
See the piccy, that’s as close as it gets??

I wouldn't put it under stress.
How about placing 2 nuts on a bolt between the gap and winding one towards the exhaust and the other towards the engine.

That's the bracket for a mk4. I have a couple there both the same.

The rubber bushes don't go on the exhaust and you need the Taff bracket. Is the pipe hitting the side casing or just the angle of the photo.

Stepped nylon bushes was a JL option that might work with a couple of washers behind the bracket to push it further out and closer the pipe

yes gaz the pipe hits the side casing & as picc thats the closest it gets?
i fitted the washers onto exhaust as is this pipe that sold on evilbay last month??


i will try again with the Nylon spacers off my JL & then if no joy go for a Taffy swan neck bracket!

Is there any tolerance for bending the bracket that is welded to the exhaust, if I’m not mistaken the pipe is 2nd hand going by 1 of your posts? It could then be re-welded and then painted again. Maybe I’m barking up the wron tree!

If the manifold isn't tightened,the exhaust should be able to be pulled away from the engine and leveling up the bracket.

The stub manifold is fastened down to my TS barrel !
But I’m not gonna risk forcing things & possibly ripping out or snapping the exhaust studs m8

finally got it to fit.



used a length of 6mm threaded bar bent into a U shape & i put it in between the exhausts bracket & nipped all up in vice to bend in what i needed



i had to also make a slightly different Swan neck bracket too, which ill get me mate to Galvanise so it looks decent..



& seems to fit ok with clearance to side casing, but we`ll see better when the engine gets fitted into me GP
