New casings etc

Postby gizmo » Sat May 05, 2018 1:37 pm

It's great having all the new options of crankcases and mag housings but pound for pound are they that much better than the sil ones. Some of these are four times the amount. They look very nice but so does an Indian one if you spend a bit of time on it. So what's the verdict. Worth the investment.

They are worth the investment if you want an engine that exceeds the limits of a standard case. So, there's a place for them right enough. Thing is, it's a big world, so there's room for new standard cases too and everyone is happy.

Last SIL one I had was from Restos. The casting was poor, very rough. It also wasn't machined properly for the great selector shaft. It wouldn't go all the way down without jamming and had to be reamed before it was useable.
