Tubed or tubeless?
At the moment i'm struggling wiping my arse let alone taking the wheel off
It was a tubed tyre (brand new tyre) but the irony being i bought 2 tubeless rims a while back and they're still in the hallway.....but not for long and they'll be filled with the green stuff.
Now then believe it or believe it not but the blow-out was my second "off" of the day. My mate suggested riding to Beck Hole near Goathland and on the steep (incredibly steep !!) road into Beck Hole i pulled my disc brake (no anti-dive), slid on the gravel and i suspect broke my ribs. This was very close to the pub and fortunately there was a crowd outside who all rushed over to help

The landlord made me a cup of tea and after 10 minutes i got back in the saddle and set off home. About 20 mile down the road on the A64 i got my rear wheel blow-out. A car behind saw it happen and stopped and helped. He was a first aider and was very helpful. Another first aider stopped (all within a minute) and he took control and was very efficient. Within maybe 5 minutes i had 3 police vehicles, 2 ambulances, 1 paramedic and an AA van who stopped and put his hazards on.
I probably got my arm cut in this off (a few stitches) but even though doing 50 mph i think the most damage (to the scoot and myself) was done at 10 mph earlier in the day.
I'm looking on the positive side and thinking how it could have been much worse. My crash helmet has got the scars to prove why they should be worn and my £6.99 leather rigger gloves have also got the marks to show they did the job. I was wearing Kevlar jeans (without pads) and i can recommend wearing them.
All in all and education and i'll be ordering an anti-dive and fitting the tubeless rims.
Thanks for all the comments and hopefully i'll be on the road in a few weeks..............or maybe a month or so
I'll update when i take off and inspect the wheel.
