Protti pipe

Just considering different pipes at the moment. Going to change the supertourer. Cts3 is a option but wondering if anybody is using a protti on a TS1 with a cyclone box ?

I guess you could email Rimini but theres no point really, they won’t reply. I did hear something about prottys being prone to cracking so be careful.

Why do you want to change the supertourer? The CST3 will give more low down grunt than the ST but won't have as much top end. Mate with a GT240 loves his CST3 but said it's all over by 7200, but he's doing about 75 by then with his gearing.

From the Rimini advert for the, 'impossible to ground out', X 20 Casa Sport - 'similar to the famous Protti pipes in looks, design & fitment, yet cost less..' (£260 down from the RRP of £320, R&D payment?) 'a more economical option with performance nearly on the same level...'

The 'central line method' (impossible to ground out) is well overdue for a full frame, though the 'nearly' (a bit of a 'bit of string' word) makes me want to see some dyno charts...

Re-reading that, that was not supposed to be an advert (unless I get a pipe to test on a SS200 kit... ) but more a has anyone got any thoughts on this (CST 5?) before I wind up doing a silly late night purchase...

Impossible to ground out only applies to cornering, what's it like for ground clearance re speed humps and the like.

Not very good by the looks of it plus you could kiss goodbye to your cylinder with a good clout.

Yes that’s what I’m after. We all know to go over speed humps etc with extreme care. Or we should. It’s an expensive mistake if we grind out.
The casa sport looks a fare option , surely somebody must be running one somewhere ?

Dave Trussle has a Protti on his TS1. Running a cyclone box with 5.2 gearing (need to confirm) I think. Very revvy and very quick and from what he said it is very different in characteristics to the CST3 which I have and run very tall gearing at 4.12.

Hi,
I have the protti X53 for my MB race tour TS1 (not on a cyclone, just GP 4 speed) unfortunately not had chance to give it a real test as had a few other issues

When I first put it on I did about 5 miles and it was calm to about 5500-6000 revs then just kept building to about 10,000. Took it for a dyno and it held power to about 11,500 revs but was really low on torque and had started to vibrate really bad. I think the torque was probably more due to my port timings than the pipe the tuner did say he’d love to try it on his race bike though
This was about a week before the Euro so I got home, replaced the BGM mounts for Indian ones and put a JL3 on which was a wise decision!!

Once home I tried it again and the engine was dying at high revs after about 25 miles, after swapping stators, cdi’s and flywheels I noticed in/out movement on the crank and then found bearing cage debris in the casing so ...... the engines on the bench for a winter rebuild and I’m using the wife’s TS1- which I also seized and had to rebuild first before she battered me

Really looking forward to getting this pipe working properly though and the build and fit is quality (probably kiss of death after my luck this year )

Last year I did The lammy jammy,
Rode from NYC to Pennsylvania.
On the way back my loaner had a stator failure and with a plane to catch I pllioned on Mr G's lyden hill kitted bike with a protti.
2 up with all my luggage and most of his it was awesome crawling in traffic through the tunnel or on th3 freeway smooth as silk loads of torque.
Clearance was an issue on the crap roads.
Ask Mr G which version h3 had, I'd have it in a heart beat.
