Historic tax class

My Serveta is now 40 years old. Registration document says manufactured 1979. It was imported in 2003. Does itqualify for historic tax now or will I have to tax this year and get historic class next year?

As far as I’m aware as long as it was registered b4 01/01/79 then it will qualify for historic. Someone with better knowledge will come along shortly

If it says on the V5 declared manufactured 1/1/79 then yes you can declare it Historic from 1st April. If it just says 1979 then you will have to wait another year. That's how I understand it anyway.

What is shown is the first date of registration...................which means exactly that, the date of manufacture may be earlier, sometimes much earlier.
The date of first registered in the UK is also shown.

The qualification for "historic" classification is the date of manufacture. If you have a certificate stating this date then it can be used to support a change in taxation class to "historic".
