TV2 front brake

Postby dickie » Fri Sep 10, 2021 2:49 pm

I'm thinking of fitting a TV2 front brake. Do I need some weird ultra rare fork links or can I use SX type?

S1+2 TV links are different from S3 type in the same way as S1+2 drum links are different from S3 drum links.

In practice you can use S3 type disc links though it will change the handling characteristics of the scooter.

I got a bit confused by this, so I read it again & it is correct

(My confusion came about because S3 links are all of the same geometry as we all know. Hence the TV175 S1-2 links being highly sought for the effect upon the front end in raising the forks relative to the wheel, ostensibly to allow better clearance in the event of an hydraulic slave cylinder being functional on a generic type disc brake)

Just to clarify, an S3 (quite rightly) fitted with S3 fork links can have potentially any S1-3 front brake fitted (that will fit*) & the geometry/handling characteristics will remain the same.

* bearing in mind the differences in the RH link, either pin slot or screw slot

If anyone does have a set of TV2 links for sale then please let me know

Continuing my appalling luck on ebay - I missed a set a month or so ago.
