Black Oily Stuff

Postby Bobf » Tue Feb 21, 2023 8:25 am

Hi All

My Series 3 Li RT195 has recently been rebuild. The engine starts and runs Ok but I have noticed back stuff dripping from the exhaust pipe. It is thin watery liquid. Not too sure but could be a petrol mixture.

Any ideas? I do know that the petrol oil ratio was extremely high when received as the builder deliberately increased the oil content during the rebuild.

No the plug is extremely clean, in fact looks brand-new! I must add that I have not run the engine up to temperature yet as was concerned about the Black Stuff.

drop the oil ration to 3% and take it on some long runs, the black stuff will be unburn 2 stroke oil.

Just to clarify. Is the black stuff dripping from the tailpipe of the exhaust, or is it coming from, say, the exhaust manifold?

In which case, as Coaster says, go for a long run and get the engine hot :)
