Engine number identification.

Postby kevspeed » Sun Jun 11, 2023 4:03 pm

Hi all, i have a Li 125 engine casing, number 125Li 563027 and im trying to find out what year scooter it was from. If i go by 'frame' numbers it says 1959 but it has the chamfer around the drive bearing which i thought was later on. Also i have a casing stamped 150 Li 767498, and again using 'frame' numbers its way out of scope as this casing doesnt have the chamfer on the drive bearing which made me think series 1 early 2 :?:

Interesting site... still none the wiser, no big deal really, i just thought it would be interesting to see how old the engines were.

Pretty sure that they are Italian and the number stamps dont look as they have been tampered with as far as i can see.

I had a memory about the engine numbers beginning with 7 and a quick check on BLA has this info ' Engine: Li150 or 150Li* followed by numbers starting from 500,001

*Note: Information has been found that shoes that some of the engine numbers started with a 7. Also the frame prefixes have been found to be stamped either Li150 or 150Li
