Front damper bracket position

Postby jonw » Fri Dec 12, 2014 8:58 am

Could anyone give me the length from the fork cutout to the centre of the bracket please, for use with BGM (6T Slim) dampers.
I have had brackets welded to my forks as per the LCGB page (http://www.ilambretta.co.uk/dampers.html) and they don't fit i.e. 10" measurement is far too long.

Jon,
Have a look at this link
http://www.scooterhelp.com/tuning/lam.rs.disk.html
The measurement is 9 1/2" to the bottom of the damper bracket or as near as makes no odds 10" to the top. It should be just below the indent on the side of the forks where the internal fork spring damper stop weld mark is. I have got three scooters with welded on damper brackets all to this dimension and they are fine. Have you tried extending your dampers by pulling them from each end? Perhaps they have been shipped compressed.

Thanks Phil, you are indeed a wise old sage and it was the dampers that were compressed!
A school boy error on my behalf and a bit of blind panic at the thought of having to strip, acid dip, re-weld and powder coat my forks all over again.
Phew I'll sleep easier tonight.
