Which is the prefered option when replacing crank and bearings.......

With the engine removed or insitu??

Its a Italian G P 200......any advice please.

Engine out, it will save a LOT of time and trouble imho.

Saw a lad do it with engine in place.......took him about 4 hours (with several T breaks !!) and he made it look easy.

Get yourself a 1 piece rear brake cable. It makes dropping the engine so easy. Carb off and let it hang, 1 c clip on the gear linkage. 4 bolts holding the gear cables and pivot, Plug cap off. Wires from the stator, 1 nut on the rear brake adjuster, Shock and main bolt. You can leave your runner boards on to drop it but loosing at least one makes it easier to refit the engine but it can be done. 1/2 an hours work tops. Hardest thing is lifting the lump onto the bench complete with wheel and pipe.

Always with the engine in situ assuming you have a ramp.

If no ramp then yeah you have to suffer with engine out

Having a ramp is a godsend but working on an engine is so much easier on the bench. Especially for a bearing strip down. if you set the casing up with studs for the control cables etc and quick action back brake cable it will save you time in the long run. And it will stop the engine bar seizing if its regularly removed and copper greased.

Just my preferred method.

The other day I managed to persuade my wife to let me put a stripped and semi cleaned engine casing and mag housing in the new Bosh dishwasher. It came out a treat.

Bum sex was still denied me.

Think yourself lucky. I couldn't sit down for a week after we tried it. But the strapon was a little larger than I'd anticipated
