series 2 rear shock

Postby jghost » Sun Jan 04, 2015 9:03 pm

I have TV175 series 2 (1961)
I require a new rear shock (the 53 year old one looks tired !!!!)

Any recommendations of what to buy much appreciated - cant spend over £100 at the moment.
The original rear shock measures 310mm.
Can I go bigger 315mm or smaller 300mm ..... or do I have to go with 310mm

Thanks

You should have some leeway but not as much as you would hope for or imagine. I struggled keeping the head cowl clear of the frame but some off set engine mount cones let me squeeze it in. Do you have any old ones to check fit before you buy?
Not sure what shock to recommend but unless you do serious mileage 2 up or ride super fast, standard shocks work well IMHO!

I can see me doing to much 2 up.
I think I will look for shock as near as the original design, which is 310mm

Agreed - got one off ebay for about £50 - looks great and works really well.

Highly recommend an Escort shocker, less than £40 from most scooter shops, or through the LCGB Club Shop.

They are the correct length of 310 mm and designed to do the job on India roads, so after having one on my TS1 for several years and many, many miles, it still good.
