Postby Patricks3179 » Wed Feb 25, 2015 8:58 pm

Hi I want to run two spotlights and a Lucas spotlight on my li 125 , I have no battery tray has its electronic I also have no leg shied toolbox , is there a way I can run them? I've looked at the series 3 battery trays and they all seem to be welded ones . Could I run another tray some where else ?

Hi Patricks,
If you have an air box you can bolt a plate underneath, have a look at this

Don't limit yourself to traditional lead/acid batteries. Think about using a sealed lead acid gel battery as used in burglar alarms. Yuasa are the leading supplier and they do a very good pdf sheet showing all physical dimentions. They can also be mounted vertically or on their sides, giving lots of mounting options. Gel batteries don't leak like traditional lead/acid batteries, which is another bonus.

My Yuasa battery is half the size of the traditional battery, and gives plenty of power for my accessories.

I've used this place for alarm batteries in the past, if I haven't been able to get them off the shelf at the wholesalers.

And the website for Yuasa is

Can recommend yuasa 7Ah Battery, have converted two Gp's(non battery ) using such a battery mounted vertically on a simple bracket mounted to air box & tool box . A great solution for a DC battery supply and use (grandpas ) easy solution to charge via a mini bridge rectifier from 12volt AC supply.

Ps : will try and post some pictures at the weekend.

Hi Patricks,
Pm sent
Note innermost bolt facing up this bolt is immediately above frame tube. If you do make up something similar you need to loosely fit this bolt as you slide in air box (as I remember) The tray shown previously on top picture is fitted to this airbox

Hi Patricks - I had the same problem - didn't want to fit a welded one. So I scratch-built an aluminium tray and a bracket to mount it off the back of the tool box. That required two holes drilled into the tool box, which i did without removing the tool box (even though for one of the holes the drill-bit was on a funny angle). I put a rubber gasket between the L-shaped mount and the tool box to protect the tool box from damage. As you can see from the pics I went a bit overboard with fuses and isolation switches.....

Kiewa,
That's a very neat battery tray down under..... way beyond my facilities and O-level metalwork skills .
