Differing Battery types - Understanding your type of battery

Postby Nelly » Sun Mar 01, 2015 1:22 am

After doing a few replies to posts regarding sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries, I decided to look into what the differing types are.
I found this website which explains the difference between Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) and Gel Batteries.

Basically most alarm standby batteries are AGM batteries, not gel, and as mentioned before, as long as they are not discharged beyond 60% of their capacity they should last a long time.
There's some good info, including what a swollen Battery indicates (overcharging).
