D125 lights switch acts as cutout!

More help required chaps.
On my D 125 main headlight comes on fine when riding along the road but if I put them on when stationary acts like a cutout!
Any clues people?

Possibly needs the flywheel re-magnetising.

The early ignition system is completely separate from the lighting system except at two points: green kill and ground.

First, disconnect the green wire at the engine and try switching on the lights at idle again. If that solves the problem, check to see if the switch is wired correctly, or if there is a problem in the switch itself. If the harness is very old check for the usual shorts from wire to wire.

If isolating the green kill wire doesn't solve the problem, then check your grounds! The engine has to be grounded to the frame or you will get ground circuit feedback issues.

Dunno where the ground wire is located on a 125D as I have a 150D. Perhaps another list member who owns one will chime in.
