150 D knocking front wheel

Postby compass » Wed Mar 29, 2023 6:59 am

Hi Guys
I have a knocking and slight tilt to the right on my front wheel when I brake? It seems that the hub plate moves a little, but if I tighten the half nut too much , front wheel won't turn.
Had wheel off and on scratching head at same time, but can't work out where the problem lies?
Any pointers welcome.

Tightening the half nut should not lock the wheel. There is a distance piece between the bearings to prevent this from happening. You are going to have to disassemble the hub and see what's up.

Thanks for the reply.. .so with the front wheel off and half nuts tighten up, should I be able to move the back plate brake side or should that be tight and fixed?
Thanks Compass

It should be snug, not loose but also not super tight. The pin/knob on the fork stops it rotating during braking. If it is loose you might get a knock when braking.

Since you have an issue, I would overhaul the hub. If you fit new, sealed bearings, you can reuse the old wheel seals.
