I know / think the LDs weren't static timing originally. But, what would be a good point to set static timing on my GT125? I'm using a Varitronic ignition but with a BGM static CDI as I became aware of issues with the full Varitronic, which is why I've gone for a static set up.

Went and had a look. Nice kit!

It has squish and probably makes quite a bit more power than stock. Set the timing to 17° to 19° BTDC depending on set up. Large carb, extractor exhaust = 17*. Stock carb and exhaust = 19°.
