Fuel cap

Postby ricey » Sun Feb 08, 2015 5:44 pm

Hi all
Am I right in thinking that the plastic fuel cap on a model d or similar can be used to measure two stroke oil, if so how many to a tank full on a model d.
Cheers iain

It might have worked back in the day when they mixed at 6%+ and used regular engine oil as mix: smoked like heck and regular decokes were the order of the day. Use a good quality 2T mix at 3% and you'll be much happier.

Cheers for the reply jb
I've worked out tank capacity to a 5% fuel mix and one cap full of oil is about spot on :D
So away we go !!!

I wouldn't run at 5%. Modern 2T oils are light-years better than what was available in the 50s.
