Back on the road

Postby Shaun » Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:07 pm

I know this one has been seen before, and most think it is criminal to leave as is, but it has been my rally scoot for best part of 5 years,
I borrowed the engine towards the end of last year for another scooter, and lent the rest of it to my mate for a while.
I then holed the piston in my engine in January and have only just rebuilt it and got the scooter back.

Anyway, reunited and back on the road.
I have missed it, it is the best handling scooter I have, it just feels right in every way.

I have a dyno booked for this sat, then some serious miles can once again begin :)
It is a Mugello 186, 30mm Delly, varitronic, JL3 and have also just fitted an SIP speedo as well.
Not the fastest scoot in the world, but plenty enough to propel me up and down the country 8-)

Looks great, nothing wrong with a Mugello 186 either.

Cheers chaps, lots of positive comments on it :D
As said, this particular scooter isn't an 'its only original once' one.
This is a last used in '79 (luckily missed the mod revival era) and left in a leaky shed for 30 years.
It is actually a bit worse than the pics make out, but I can use abuse and enjoy and not worry about scratching or washing it.
Truth is, upgrades cost more than the scoot, and thats with me doing the labour

Carlos, very true indeed ;)
Nigel S, told you a few dents wouldn't worry me with the mudguard

Re: the Mugello 186, I read all about the 225/240 Rb/TS's/Avanti's etc etc talk on here and feel my little 186 is quite measly in comparison,
But, I find it great for round town, A roads and blats up the motorway as well without all the extra expense for a few more mph.
5 years since it was first built, ridden thousands of miles and only failed because I was too lazy to change my carb rubber when it needed changing, and after about the 4th time it fell off on the way to a rally the damage was done

Will be happier whn the dyno is done on Sat to confirm the jetting is good to abuse 8-)
