1960 Li 125 series2 Rustoration

Hi all

Thought I'd show you my 1960 li. I bought it to restore but thought it deserved sensible preservation rather than a restoration. I have left the body work and paint alone, apart from just adding some stickers (.......I like them anyway )

I m really keen on the original Italian dealers badge on the mudguard..

Anyway, I reused what I could - it's still running 6v electrics. It's had new suspension, brakes, cables, coil , wheels and bearings. The engine was reconditioned by Diablo Moto with a150cc barrell.

From cold it starts first kick but when hot it's a bugger to start. Think I might post another question on this topic. Anyway t's currently running a 18mm Delorto from a Li 150 series 3 and a larger air scoop. I have kept the original parts for the sake of keeping with the scoot.

Mmmmm think i've sorted the hot starting issue ... My plug gap was 25 thou... I've cleaned up the plug and reduced it to 18 thou . Seems to be better !

covboy, you are pitching this just right dude. The dealer badge is fooking nice as is the Ferrucci sticker on the side panel love it. Just bought a series 2 Italian import too and fancy a similar approach, gonna convert to 12v though, don't fancy f'in about with points. Mine has never been stripped, it kicks over so engine isn't seized, can't wait to start work on it.

Same situation here, 1960 series 2 never been messed with and going down the same route as MJD

monument7 that's really nice .i presume it's a British bike. I like the number plate style - does anyone know where I can have one like that made? Ie raised plastic numbers rather than aluminium pressed????

Amazingly this scooter was first registered in a shop a mile from where I was born and has been in the area ever since with just 2 owners in the original logbook. Was hoping it could have been my first scootI had back in the mid 60's but a bit too much to expect still well happy with it. Kitting the engine and doing usual safety stuff but bodywork is staying the same.
