1963 Li125 rebuild take 2

Postby N19 » Wed Feb 11, 2015 11:02 pm

Rewind to November 2006 I brought my first Li125, had it delivered and within a few days it was stripped down and ready for a full rebuild. I had all panels and frame shot lasted at Redditch shotblasting, I had the frame powder coated and started rebuilding with new parts where needed. I then moved out of my parents house and ran out of money. So it sat in the garage covered up until now. I will dig some of the first pics out.

Fast forward to 2015 and this time round I plan on finishing the project. I plan to keep track of progress on here.

I am waiting for a few other bits to come back from being powder coated to match the frame. Today I loosely trial fitted all panels.

Brought a few goodies from Worcester parts fair the other weekend

I stripped the speedo and needed a new face and glass as the old ones were badly damaged. All other parts were cleaned and greased.

I am pleased with how it's turned out

The speedo on my TV3 is far worse but I hope to resuscitate the thing with a new face and lens too. The dial is smashed and the lens fine oddly, but has been rubbed down with P80 paper I think.

Did you do anything to the internal mechanism, and if so what please?

Graham.

After stripping it down and giving it a good clean I just greased the internals and checked them for wear. It was in pretty good condition to be honest. The new face cost £5 and the glass £3

You can refurb the speedo faces quite easily with a good fibre tip pen ( or for all the old Draughtsman out there a 1.8mm Rotring pen :) ) then spray with clear lacquer

It was from the Worcester parts fair, the Grandsport stand.

Parts back from being chromed, just waiting for the powder coaters to call so I can start rebuilding the forks.
