track to road

Postby byron » Tue Jul 01, 2014 12:18 am

thought I'd use the time & money saved from not going to the euro to put some bits together I had about the workshop...
plan is to ride this to Shipston

this was thursday last week~
Image
it's an ex group 4 race bike from the 80s, will be pretty much dressed with the original well used bodywork.

bolted a few bits on, including hydraulic front disc that was on my Special
Image

engine in. it's a Spanish SX200 casing, with a Rapido 225 cylinder, piston from one cupboard, head from another box, a bit from here, a bit from there.... I put my old Mikeck on it [which is my favourite pipe of the time] and a VHSA 28.
Image

this is it this evening ~
Image
just some bodywork to bolt down, hydraulic hose to fit and some wiring to do, and an exhaust bracket. hoping to get it mot'd before the end of this week...
should be ok to ride around for the summer as the engine rebuild on my Special is taking longer than planned...

Tim Read. sadly passed away last year. I would be interested if anyone remembers Tim or the bike, or has any old photos from the 80s

ready for mot now...
wanted to fit a grille, but had to make some spacers as bolts oversize, looks the part imo
Image

as does the Amal on an 80s bike ~
Image

rearset brake works well, with a decent cable run ~
Image

DC conversion of course, using one of Lloydiee's boxes, mounted higher up to allow use of the panel pins
Image

and simple wiring, and QA throttle keeps the headset internals tidy
Image

so mot in the next few days, then, as long as get the logbook back from DVLA and have chance to shake it down, should be good for Shipston, otherwise the Serveta is my backup plan...
