GP rear light gasket

Hi,
Im fitting the wiring loom to my dl frame and noticed that there is a very large aperture both in the gasket for the light fitting and in the frame loop for the wires to pass through. Surely rain water, dirt & shite will enter the rear light lens via this large hole?
Any suggestions on how to blank off / bung it up?
Or am i worrying unduly?

It’s covered by the rear mudguard. I have never had a problem with any significant water ingress there and I have never heard of anyone else having that problem either.
