advice on jetting a PHBH30 on an RT195

Postby Bobs2 » Sat Jun 06, 2015 1:31 pm

I'm struggling to set up the jetting on my RT195 small block, with Franspeed super tourer and PHBH30.
Gearing is 16 tooth front sprocket with late li125 gearbox so top ratio should be 5.30:1

Pilot 50
Av264
Needle X7
138 main

Runs ok, would normally be plug chopping with smaller main jets as is a bit boggy right at the top, problem is she's overheating in the mid range?? Any advice?

I've got some dyno time booked in a couple of weeks but didn't want to turn up there with a potential problem.

Not exactly the same set up, mine is......
RT195 with BGM Clubman and 30mm Delly open mouth.
The main seems a bit big to me....
40 slide with X7 needle , AS266 and 124 main.

If you search the forum you should find some other opinions .

I've got this carb on a Mugello 186, not identical but I'm running it with an Av266, X7 second clip, 50 idle, 120 main, 40 slide. Avanti clubman. I also run the same set up on my RT 225 but with a 125 main. So you should be somewhere close! Both no air filter!

X7 is fairly lean. What slide do you have? All jets apart from your main (which seems huge) lean towards lean

I'd agree, X7 and AV264 looks like it's asking for holing a piston, masked to a degree by a huge main jet.

I'd expect X7 with AV266 or X13 with AV264 and main jet around 120 would be ballpark. I'd also change the float needle jet from the factory fitted 200 to a 270 or 300 if you haven't already done so.

Thanks for the advice folks, Unfortunately, after a valient attempt, a workable set up using the RT kit and Supertourer pipe could not be found on the dyno. I'm now using a BGM Clubman, and the Supertourer is temporarily expensive wall art until a tuned kit comes along.
