Carb choice for standard ish sx200 motor.

Postby Kristof Lammy pie » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:04 pm

Currently having a few problems with the carb on my standard sx200 motor.

Its on a Jetex 22mm and is pretty awful on low revs but clears up top.

I've taken it apart and cleaned it all up but the jets have no markings or sizings on them. I'm quite keen on dumping the Jetex for a phbl Dellorto and buying an exhaust to match.

Can anyone offer advice on carb kit and exhaust to get the most out of the motor.

Thanks
Kris

Probably better to buy a set of properly sized genuine dellorto marked <INC> jets from a reputable dealer, then at least you know what sizes you actually have and work from there.

Problem with that I wouldn't know where to start with jetting etc? Or if the immulsion tubes are original etc.

I've just managed to get the air mixture good enough so it ticks over but that's about it.

I'd bin the emulsion tube too if unmarked.

Then start with standard GP 200 jetting if the motor is basically standard.

Slide - 7895-1
Atomiser - 5899-2
Main - 118 / 123
Pilot - 45
Starter - 50

Genuine jets have a diamond shaped stamping with INC inside it and will be marked with the size.

Jetex pattern jets are generally unbranded and rarely have a size on them.

Yes I think I'm going to go down the 25mm Dellorto route.

Off to take it to the mot now. Fingers crossed.

I've got two scooters with jetex carbs on,one's a series 2 with a GP 200 engine and a Casa 210 top end,the other is a small block with a Casa 185 top end,I've changed the jets and atomiser for Dellorto ones. They both run through the airbox and they both run great.

Just an update.

I went for the 25mm Dellorto phbl kit rubber mounted.

The kit came with recommended jetting already with it.

I just set the mixture screw to two turns out and it's starts first kick and ticks over nicely. I've yet to take it for a spin yet due to the weather.

I too had a few issues with the Jetex on my 200. I fitted Delly jets in it for a couple of pound second hand from that nice scooter shop in Rayleigh Esssex, job done. Perfect.
