RT195 Port Heights & Squish

Postby Richie » Thu Apr 06, 2023 6:23 pm

I am in the process doing a complete engine rebuild with a RT195 top end.
Crankshaft is a 58/107 so I fitted the 0.3mm base gasket and with this the piston crown at BDC is overlapping the bottom of the transfer ports.
To get the piston level with the bottom of the transfer ports I need to use both a 0.3mm and 0.5mm base gasket but this gives a squish of 1.3mm.
If I just use the 0.5mm base gasket the piston is slightly into the transfer ports and right on the exhaust port giving a squish of 1.1mm.
The casing is Innocenti and has not been modified in any way.

So my question is which thinkness base gasket do I use 0.5mm or 0.8mm?
Any other ideas?

That's what I was thinking.
Using 0.8mm also leaves the piston skirt in the Inlet port by about 4mm at TDC.
