Ducati / Casatronic Stator readings

Postby Covboy » Mon May 01, 2023 7:28 am

Hello

Helping a friend diagnose a ignition issue

He has a fairly new casatronica kit but no spark
Replaced CDI -HT lead - plug & cap
Also double checked plug and socket pins and connections

Does anyone know if the ball park resistor readings are similar to the standard stator values in sticky’s book ?

Yes the resistance readings of the LT and trigger coil will be similar. All too often though these readings dont actually help that much.
With your multimeter set to 200vAC scale connect across the green wire and earth. At kick start speed you should see around 60VAC RMS. If you have this value then it is probably a trigger issue.

beware on the new casatronics..

if you are relying on a plug against the engine to look for a visible spark, or even poking your finger up the HT cap.. surprisingly this is not always a reliable test..

I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to diagnose a lack of spark only to eventually find the engine wouldnt start because I left the F**ing leak test bung in the exhaust port :(
