Mag housing nuts on GP Uni casing

Postby jdevane5 » Fri May 05, 2023 7:15 pm

Building up on a new Uni casing & Mag housing and had to pack the Mag housing out a bit to get crank gap right -Anyhow the 3 nuts holding the Mag housing are about 1 mm from being flush with top of the nut...is this a problem? e.g. Get slightly longer studs??
I did think about a dab of thread lock on the 3 studs and torqued up the nuts.

Advise welcome cheers :D

This can happen if you are using thick M6 washers behind the nuts. Probably best to refit the studs with them wound out by 1mm and threadlock them into this position. You only need a light threadlocker. Beware of using thick washers on the stator retaining bolts as this extra protusion can foul the flywheel when it is tightened up on some setups that use thicker mag gaskets!

Cheers, I will try and get hold of some thin washers and give your suggestion a go.
