Loss of power

Postby 69GP225 » Mon Jun 05, 2023 12:02 pm

Hello,

Need some advice thanks….

Was out during the weekend on my SX.150

Running a gt186 with an original Ron moss clubman. On the way home going into a strong headwind I noticed a loss of power.
During investigation I have found a small hole in the exhaust where the silencer pipe joins the box. I can see black burnt fuel exiting the small hole.

Would a small hole create power loss top end. The bike feels ok around town but it’s seems top end?

Appreciate your comments

Very unlikely. What gearing do you have?

Hello,

Found the problem…..

Took the box off and if you shake it the baffle has come loose inside.
So either a new exhaust or a cut and repair?

The bike’s performance is great with the pipe. Don’t really want to change it tbh.
Unsure what would be so good currently on the market?

Thanks Lee

If you do need to change the exhaust I can recommend the Avanti-Ex Box ST....been great on my GT186

Thanks guys.

I’m going to do both. Repair the original type. It’s really nice and one of the original ones. No.47.
Worth keeping I think. But going to by the new avanti type but without the silencer.

Thanks Lee
