Going to fit a clutch centre spring. Is it held in place by the clutch nut and what do you do with the tab washer Does it require a nyloc nut to be used ?

Don't think they're held in by anything other than the tension.

think you've got to trim the tab washer to make it fit

I can't rember trimming the tab washer on mine ,
Basically yes to the tab washer but ensure the spring sits flat.

Surely the spring cant sit flat because part of it sits on the tab washer, the part of the washer that locates on the peg on the clutch spider.

If you only bend up the tab to meet one of the six sides the spring will sit on 5/6ths of the washer.
The spring by the nature of its designed function Is pretty strong and is unlikely to distort into the UN supported 1/6th.

Untill the advent of the very good AF cassette clutch the perceived and therefore imparted wisdom was tab washers were essential. But as many will a test lochtite is now a proven method so if the uncertainty of that unsupported 1/6 th of the spring plays on your mind you could ditch the tab washer altogether.

BTW the spring only has one compressible coil so it really dosent make a hoot of difference any way.
