Which cylinder cowling ?

Postby JBM34 » Sun May 29, 2016 8:16 pm

Hi guys,

I've got a Gori 200 race cylinder on my Li125 series 1.
Do you know wich cylinder cowl I have to buy please ?
Mine is too short.
Thanks.

Shame to waste that paintwork!

If it were me, I’d consider other options first.

Shave a bit of the cylinder head if that is what is causing the cowling to sit proud. You might be very reluctant to do that! :o

However, if it isn’t that, use a shorter ‘long’ hexagon nut, or modify existing.

Make, or buy a cowling packer (Scoterotica or Taylor Tuning might make them)

Series 1 barrels are shorter, aren't they? You've put a longer S3 barrel on, so a S3 cowl ought to do it, surely?

^... correct. As stated above, I'd be tempted to buy and fit one of the ally packers made to take up the space for long rod/stroke conversions. If you want to do the job correctly, buy and paint a SIII cowl.

Series III will go straight on & I should have confirmed that but was suggesting options as we are a complex lot, I think.

What some may consider looks right for the period on a particular machine may be a major consideration. Some, like me, persevering with points for example!

Yet I doubt if I went hydraulic that I would consider a hidden cylinder.

Horses for courses, eh? ;)
