Good for you. Top tip- anything that needs painting or plating, dry build it first to make sure it fits perfectly. And when dry building the body panels, don't settle for just quickly bolting each part in place, you must use all the grommets, washers and rubbers that will be in place for the final build. If you don't you can easily end up with panel gaps or panels rubbing against each other because the grommet/washer/rubber thicknesses weren't taken into account at dry build stage.
As an example, on series 1 and 2's the side panel locating lugs on the frame must be checked for alignment before the frame is sprayed. They're pretty sturdy, but if the bike has ever had a smash, they can and do bend out of true.
Bottom line, take your time, and if you ever have a bad session, don't get frustrated by it and end up doing something silly, walk away and pick it up again another day. Good luck!
