Engine Bearing kits

Postby inch71 » Tue Nov 18, 2014 7:44 pm

I'm doing a full engine rebuild over the winter, due to fitting a new Mugello top end kit.
I've had the scooter for over 5 years, & the lad before me had it rebuilt quite a few years before that. So whilst I've got the engine out, I thought it would be a good idea to do a full rebuild.
As I shall be fitting all new bearings & seals etc. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend where to get good quality bearing kits, containing all the bearings I need. I've seen Mike Phoenix do a kit for £99.99, & Glasgow Lambretta do one for £67.99
There is also a couple of specialist Bearing shops close to me. I thought maybe of taking the bearing numbers from Sticky's book to these, & seeing what price they come out at.
So would I be best to buy the full kit from a dealer, knowing these are the exact bearings for a Lambretta, or would I get the same bearings from a bearing specialist, that I know stock SKF, FAG, INA etc, & would I need to let the bearing shops know anything specific before buying from them.
Any advice will be welcome.
Thanks
Lee

The Glasgow Lambretta bearings are all SKF & FAG bearings ;) Not sure that you'll find anywhere cheaper.
