If you look at the skimming tool, you’ll see that one of the cutters moved during operation because I neglected to tighten up the Allen screw on this particular cutter. This basically destroyed both shoes.
My learning from this is not to try and set the height of the cutters whilst the tool is attached to the scooter. Take it off and check the cutters are as even and level as you can before tightening everything.
This is my second attempt with a lightly used set of Scootopia shoes. I was reticent to cut too much having wrecked one set of shoes already. I may well need to take more off at some point.
I haven’t ridden the scooter yet so can’t comment as to how good the rear brake is, or not.
Next time I use the skimming tool, I’m going to try a more meticulous method of getting the cutters all as level as they possibly can be.
Just thought I’d share my experience so far. The AF video done by Ben makes it look very easy. It is but it can go very wrong too
