Good shout gizmo. That's what a magnetec filter is on central heating.

However, any pure rust particles won't be attracted. I suspect that they all (?) have some pure iron particles in them, so that's how it works.

Thinking further, the particles that I get on my central heating filter are black as opposed to traditional rust. This is because they're a different oxide of iron. Fe3O4 as opposed to Fe2O3.......I think so anyway.

Something like this?

If they ever became ridiculously filthy, I’m unsure how you would ever get them out though.

No not sure either. Those are the ones. You can play for hours with them. Put them on your carpet and they move to find nail in floorboards  unless you have concrete floors of course.

If it was confusing I put the magnets on outside of tank not inside. Still a pain as you would probably have to remove tank to clean it out if any debris amassed in there.

I’ve done this before
Put them on the outside of the tank, secure with a bit of tape to stop them moving or dropping off with the vibration

Intriguing stuff, where about did you position the magnets? near the tap or spread about along the length of the tank? cheers Paul

Thanks. I have just had to replace the flasher relay but they are only £8 each. It was still working but the adjuster, to slow the flashing down, was being a bit temperamental.

Hopefully, I am going to get a small number of the housings cast in alloy later in the year. I have a local company lined up to do it in just need to borrow a set of originals.

I was interested in your indicator light brackets as I am fitting a kit to the combination over winter.

102 mile round trip to Bala Lake this morning. Messed around, yet again, with the jetting on route. Went from a d22 needle, second clip, to a D26 needle second clip and then finished the day on the second clip of the d22 with a 1/2 washer. I wasn’t doing plug chops, just listening to the engine. I’ll have to do a few chops before Scarborough though.

If only there was a dyno within 70 miles :(

It’s a Stage 4 200 with a PHBL25 - pilot50, slide 40, atomiser AQ266, main 102. AF 42mm Clubman.

I have to say that the indicators are a joy to use and make any longer journeys so much more relaxed. The tiny LED ones at the back may be out of keeping with a 1960 vehicle but I know that they are so bright that anyone behind cannot fail to see them. I had to add the back ones as I found that I couldn’t be sure that drivers behind could see the ones on the legshield.

If you are interested, this is the thread about the indicators:
